Curly Prom Hair Styles for Junior Prom

Junior prom seems like it’s just around the corner once the school year gets underway – and with teens starting school in the next week or so, it will come around quicker than you can say yearbook! There are two styles of hair which can be worn to the prom, those which are worn in a sort of curly Updo and those which are worn down in a curly style. One of the most popular styles that we have seen for formal events has been inspired straight from the red carpet. This includes the curls worn in a half up and half down style with hair that has been pinned back for a casual look that includes a simple but elegant hairstyle being created.

One of the best parts about this hairstyle is the fact that it can be so easily created at home. For those starting out with natural curls within the hair, the hairstyle is a breeze. For those needing to create the curls within the hair, this may be the most difficult part of the hairstyle. First, use varying sizes of curlers or various sizes of barrels through curling irons to create a natural and curly root curling within one inch of the root of the style.

Next, after all of the hair has been curled (it is most effective to create the hair in layers of curls to create the most natural appearance) – it is important to take the tendrils from the sides of the hair and pin these tendrils back through the hairstyle to create a natural appearing half up and down hairstyle. Use pieces from the front to pull all of the curls back from the face, or leave tendrils, depending on how you would like the style and secure the pinned back hair with bobby pins.
